Belle Fligelman Winestine (1891-1985) was a Montana feminist, journalist, author, and supporter of the arts. In 1916, she
became an administrative assistant to Congresswoman Jeannette Rankin. Her husband, Norman Winestine, in addition to being
a merchant, was also involved with Montana history and art. Frieda Fligelman (1890-1978) was a linguistic sociologist and
a feminist. Fanny Fligelman Brin (1884-1961), a feminist and a civic and Jewish activist, became president of the National
Council of Jewish Women. Julius Fligelman (1895-1980), based in Los Angeles, was a furniture maker, philanthropist, and Zionist;
he also established the Julius Fligelman Chair in Life and Civilization at the University of Judaism, in Los Angeles. Other
family members include: Daniel Fligelman, sculptor; John Levy, poet; Stephen Fligelman, civil and human rights activist; Sol
Fligelman, Minnesota businessman and Zionist leader; and Fred A. Fligelman, merchant, art patron, and active contributor to
civic and Jewish causes.
